I have always adored furniture made from wood. I think they are extra-ordinaire. They are one of the fruits God's greatest gift to man - talents and skills.
My love for Asian architecture and design makes my outlook in life more indulged in this perspective. Perhaps sleeping in one can even make me a better person. What do you think?
The Tangerine Living
Welcome 2012 with the color of the year, Tangerine. Profoundly because the dragon's color is orange. I played with polyvore, thus, ending up creating this living room space.
What a way to enjoy the year than achieving a minimalist touch in your living room with a touch of black and white and tangerine? It would be a perfect and cozy living.
I have always love minimalist themes, nude colors, and black and whites. I think they are perfect for anyone.

Elements of Design
For anyone who is interested in art, he must have a background on the basics of art. Let us start with the elements of design.
1. Line - everything starts with a line. It can be straight, curve, heavy, or light. Without line, there would absolutely no art.
2. Shapes - with line come shapes. Shapes are mostly made out of lines, either curve, straight, heavy or light. It can be filled with tone, texture, color, or mixture.
3. Colour - of course, a shape will boring unless it is filled with colour. Color then has temperature, hue, intensity, tone value, tints, and shades.
Temperature is the warm or cold effect of a color. Say orange has a warm temperature while blue has a colder temperature.
Hue is something that makes one colour differ from one another. Just a simple difference in hue can lead to another colour already,
Intensity is the strength of a colour. It can be bold or the opposite.
Tone Value is the brightness or darkness of a certain colour.
Tints are what is achieved when you add white to a color while shades are achieved when adding black.
Colours can also be primary, secondary, and tertiary. In a colour wheel, analogous colours lie near each other while those in exact opposites are complimentary colours.
4. Tone is the lightness or darkness of a certain shape. Of course, a colour may depend sometimes on how much light it can receive, thus giving it its tone.
5. Texture is something that we can feel when we touch a certain surface. It can be smooth, rough, spiky, soft, velvety, regular or irregular.
6. Direction is that part of the artwork that makes our eyes move into. Some can make our eyes move horizontally while others vertically.
7. Size is, of course, the bigness or smallness of a certain area. It can make objects appear nearer or farther.
8. Mass comes with size. It is the amount of material present in any art. Mass is seen mostly on sculptures, furnitures and lesser on paintings.
With all of the elements present, we are able to create art.

DIY: Eiffel Tower Wall Decal
A Korean Drama, A Scent of a Woman, inspired me to do this wall decal. This is an exact copy from my blog, http://lilpink.info.
You will need:
- 5 pieces Black cartolina or Manila card (you can choose whatever color you want but since I am making a silhouette, I will go for black.)
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Scissors and cutter
- Double sided tape or Scotch tape
- Bondpaper or sketchpad
So, you have everything we need already? Let us start.
First, you need to sketch the easiest Eiffel Tower silhouette on a sketch pad. I searched Google for some images. To easily draw the Eiffel Tower, you need to divide the paper into 4 parts such as this:

Now, we are ready.

Japanese Dojo Inspired Home
I was just seven years old when I watched Discovery Channel about Japanese houses. Instantly, I fell in love with Japanese architecture. I guess, it was then that I knew I love designing.
Ever since, I would dream of having a dojo-inspired house wherein it will have a pond in the middle of the house. So, I googled some photos of japanese houses.

Blacks and Whites
When achieving a minimal look of a certain room, it is best to stick with blacks and whites. The reason is that these two shades complement each other so much that it will bring the style of your house to a different level.
Designing the living room probably is the hardest thing to do. Since this is the first room you show to your visitors, you might want to have an extra effort in designing everything.
Make sure not to overdo. It is okay to put figurines. However, do not act as if your house is a store for figurines.
I know I am still noob at blogging about home designs. Forgive me. I will try better. Till my next post.
xx,
Kai

Welcome
I have always loved interior designing. Though, I am in the verge of pursuing another field than designing, I want to still be in touch with this passion. That lead to the creation of this blog.
I called it Amour Ordinaire because my passion for interior designing is similar to any ordinary love felt by a couple. Thus, the blog url is http://AMOURDINAIRE.blogspot.com - a mixture of both French words.
I am hoping that I will be indulging myself more into home designing by the creation of this blog. InshaAllah, I will be able to feed my love for art and designs.
xx,
Kai
