Keeping Calm With Ikebana

I have always loved beautifully-arranged flowers. However, I dislike flower arrangements that goes beyond calm. I want simple and minimalist arrangement that would bring peace to the eyes.

Ikebana is, perhaps, the answer to my desires. I am looking forward to learning about this art.

If you didn't know, Ikebana is a Japanese art of flower arrangement.

Keeping Calm With Ikebana

"It is a disciplined art form in which the arrangement is a living thing where nature and humanity are brought together. " -

Ikebana mostly deal with our closeness to the nature. It brings a different kind of aura to a certain place.

Accordingly, Ikebana uses various types of tools and equipment also. It includes a container which may be a bamboo basket, a glass container, a vase, etc. It also uses a tripod (gotoku-dome), gabion holder (jakago-dome), crab holder (kani-dome), turtle holder (kame-dome), whirlpool holder (kanzesui-dome), needlepoint holder (kenzan), bundled straw (komi-wara), horsebit holder (kutsuwa-dome), kubari, shippo, yugan-kubari.

Ikebana uses different flowers depending on what the artist wants to achieve. The artist has to be apt and keen in the meaning of the colors, textures, and patterns of the tools, branches and flowers used too.

Ikebana goes beyond just your typical arrangement. It focuses more on the purpose that it will serve.

Golden Peak - Cafe Lucita Interior

I have been missing in action lately. Well, I went to Cebu with the Vidas for our field trip in Finance 3N. It was really enjoyable.

Moving on, Cebu is like the mother city for all nice furniture. You can find nice pieces everywhere. It was amazing looking at the buildings with nicely done furnishings and decors.
